Certified Insurance Service Representative

Increase your confidence, serve your clients more completely and increase your soft-sell strategies by earning your Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation in a classroom or with CISR OnLine (NEW in 2009).

There is no better way to feel more confident in your job than to continue your education.  The CISR program helps to build your insurance policy knowledge so you feel confident that you are in possession of the most accurate and current information. This alone will build your confidence in your day-to-day activities.

This increased knowledge and self-confidence will allow you to serve your clients in a more complete manner.  Not only can you service their policy on what was already sold to them, but at the point of renewal, you can use your sound foundation of knowledge to suggest changes relative to their evolving personal circumstances.

Finally, because you will have a solid foundation of both personal and commercial lines of insurance, you will have increased opportunities to assist and serve your clients on their growing needs that may mingle between both sides.  Although you may work primarily in one line, you will have a well-rounded education that will allow you to identify risk exposures that can be covered by the opposing line of insurance.  This creates value for your client so they know that you can protect them from the additional exposures that arise.

Who should attend?

CISR courses are open to any employee of an agency, insurance company or insurance-related business. The five CISR courses are designed in a one-day format designed for:

  • Agency staff
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Company underwriters
  • Company branch managers

CISR courses are open to any insurance professional needing updated technical information and/or state continuing education credits.  In the classroom, the exam is required only for those individuals earning the CISR Designation.  However, CISR OnLine requires the exam for earning the designation as well as earning continuing education credits.

Earning the Designation

To earn the CISR designation, participants must successfully complete all five courses and exams within three calendar years following the year in which the participant successfully completes the first exam. There is no specific order in which courses must be taken. The five courses include:
