PA Producer Licensing
Licensing is the cornerstone of a producer's right to sell insurance. As new licensing laws are implemented, IA&B advocates that fair and equitable laws and regulations are in place to govern licensing and continuing education for insurance professionals. It can sometimes be difficult to wander through the maze of administrative procedures that go along with the license and CE requirements.
This section looks at Pennsylvania's licensing statute and answers frequently asked questions about the operation and implications of the law. It also provides guidance and some useful information on these issues.
Pennsylvania's Producer Licensing law, Act 147 of 2002, was effective on June 4, 2003. It describes how to get and maintain a license, and also defines many compliance requirements for producers (from fiduciary duties to the proper charging of fees).
