Fundamentals of Insurance

The Fundamentals of Insurance Certificate Program is designed primarily for agency employees with less than one year of experience who need the basic concepts of insurance and agency operations. This program offers a variety of education options to provide basic insurance knowledge and understanding of field principles and terminology, so participants can become knowledgeable, productive employees.

How the Program Works

To earn the certificate, participants must do the following:

  1. Register and participate in the courses applicable to the certificate track the participant intends to earn. (Some courses do require an exam to satisfy completion)

    • Courses may be taken in any order.

    • A time limit is not imposed for completing a selected track.

    • An annual update is not required to maintain the Fundamentals of Insurance Certificate once earned.

  2. Submit all course completion certificates to IA&B when all segments of the selected track have been completed.

Program Tracks & Courses

Each track is composed of courses that give the participant an introduction to the industry and covers customer service, the basics of errors & omissions and detailed knowledge in the specialty of choice.

Courses are offered through a combination of classroom and computer mediated distance learning (CMDL) training.

Many existing IA&B programs are approved to satisfy the requirements of a chosen track.
