Insuring Contractors

As contractors enter into agreements to construct and/or remodel buildings or install equipment, they open themselves up to many risks as they perform the job and long after its completion. They can be held liable for their own actions, the actions of the property owner or the actions of their employees and subcontractors.

Insuring Contractors, presented by Jerry Milton, CIC, will build your knowledge of various exposures contractors face and the myriad of coverage needed to accurately fit those exposures. You will spend time focusing on the contractors' Commercial General Liability, Contractors Equipment and Builders Risk policies and the elements that make them unique such as:

  • Owned, leased and borrowed equipment
  • Contractual obligations
  • Liability exposures for acts of employees and subcontractors
  • Covered property
  • Endorsements needed to satisfy the construction agreement
  • Who is an insured

You will also gain knowledge in other areas of coverage contractors may need such as Pollution and Professional Liability policies.
