Every year, some 4,000 boys and girls compete across the country in an attempt to advance to the highly prestigous national tournament. Read further to learn about how to participate. Eligibility
For 2009, the tournament is open to any youth golfer whose 19th birthday does not occur on or before July 30, 2009.
Qualifying
In order to play in the Trusted Choice® Big "I" Junior Classic, you must qualify through the Delaware state tournament that is the gateway into the national tournament. State Tournment Date & LocationJunior golfers will play 18 holes at a course selected by DAIAB. One boy top-finisher will then advance to the national championship. IA&B will assist players who qualify at this level with travel expenses for the national championship. State Tournament Fee
There is a fee assessed to play in the state tournament. This fee is posted annually with specific details regarding the tournament.
National ChampionshipBoy and girl players qualifying for the national tournament will play four rounds of golf. Upon completion of the first two rounds' (36) holes, a cut will be made to the lowest 60-boy scores and lowest 30-girl scores. If ties occur for the last slots, playoffs will be held immediately following the second round to determine those 60-boy and 30-girl players. Those 90 players will then advance to the final two rounds to determine the national championship. All players will attend the annual banquet, cookout and several other tournament-related events, in addition to the national tournament. |
