Networking, CE and politics headlined event
Over 200 independent agents, CSRs and company personnel gathered in Rehoboth Beach in early June for the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers 55th annual convention. The June 6-7 event featured networking opportunities, CE seminars and an insurance commissioner candidates' forum.
"The convention is a staple gathering of who's who in the Delaware insurance community and always draws a loyal crowd," said DAIAB Chairwoman Diana Hornung Hanby. "This year was no exception."
One highlight of the convention was an awards luncheon, where DAIAB leadership recognized CSRs and presented the association's annual awards and scholarships.
Jim Watkins, of Pfister Insurance Inc. in Dover, received the Wharton-Ranalli Leadership Award for his contributions to the association and industry. Jim recently ended his term on the DAIAB Board of Directors and as Delaware's IIABA (the Big "I") National Director. The William H. Lehnert Jr. Award went to Joanna "Joey" Ryder, of Selective Insurance Group, for her efforts to forge strong agency-company relationships. And former director of the DAIAB Board Denise Kozel, of Bramhall + Hitchen Insurance in Newark, received the Francis B. Gebhart Memorial Award for her continued assistance to the association.
Joann Scott Memorial Scholarships
DAIAB's annual Joann Scott Memorial Scholarships went to Matthew Armistead, of Newark, and Danielle Marshall, of Middletown. Both received $1,500 to continue their education at the University of Delaware.
