Delaware insurance commissioner addresses producers, outlines priorities

Delaware producers recently gathered in Dover to hear Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart unveil the priorities for her term.
"The event was an excellent opportunity for us to further solidify our relationship with the commissioner, hear her areas of focus and share our opinions," said John Yasik, chairman of the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers, which hosted the April 15 meeting.
Weldin Stewart also discussed her background as a receiver and the insight it has given her in assessing companies' financial stability and explained her rationale for passing an emergency regulation on reserving for life insurance companies.
The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which the commissioner addressed the December 2008 workers' compensation filings, upcoming NAIC licensing accreditation and credit scoring.
