NEWARK, Del. (Dec. 21, 2009) – The Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers Inc. on Dec. 14 donated $1,000 to the Food Bank of Delaware.
“As insurance agents, we are deeply involved with our communities and wanted to support an organization that is as well,” said John Yasik, chairman of DAIAB. “The Food Bank fills a vital need and impacts thousands of residents each week.”
The Food Bank of Delaware distributes between seven and 10 million pounds of food annually through a network of 346 hunger-relief program partners to residents throughout the state.
The Food Bank and its network report on average a 30 percent increase in need. Among those in need of food assistance are families and individuals who once donated their time, money and food.
“We are so appreciative of DAIAB’s continued support of our organization,” said Patricia Beebe, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware. “During these tough economic times, it’s critical that we do everything possible to get more food out to hungry families in Delaware.”
