REHOBOTH, Del. (June 14, 2010) – Sierra Spicer, of Laurel, Del., and Robert Yerkes, of Newark, Del., on June 10 received $1,500 Joan Scott Memorial Scholarships from the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers Inc.

“We were impressed by their academic records, as well as their leadership skills and commitment to community,” said John Yasik, chairman of the DAIAB. “Sierra and Robert embody the ideals of this award.”

Spicer is a 2010 Laurel Senior High School graduate. Yerkes graduated this spring from St. Mark’s High School. Both qualified for the scholarship by maintaining a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, residing in Delaware and planning to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Joann Scott was employed by Kinnamon Taylor and Dawes, of Wilmington, Del. She was active in the DAIAB and dedicated to furthering the education of independent insurance agents, which is why a scholarship is given in her name each year.
