Delaware insurance agents dole out scholarships
Recent grads nab $1,500 apiece
REHOBOTH, Del. (June 10, 2011) – Anthony Johnston and Alexandra Schwartz, both of Seaford, Del., on June 9 received $1,500 Joann Scott Memorial Scholarships from the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers Inc.
"We were impressed by their academic records, as well as their leadership skills and commitment to community," said Diana Hornung Hanby, chairwoman of the DAIAB. "Anthony and Ali embody the ideals of this award."
Johnston is a 2011 Seaford Senior High School graduate. Schwartz graduated this spring from Worcester Preparatory School. Both qualified for the scholarship by maintaining a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, residing in Delaware and planning to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
Joann Scott was employed by Kinnamon Taylor and Dawes, of Wilmington, Del. She was active in the DAIAB and dedicated to furthering the education of independent insurance agents, which is why a scholarship is given in her name each year.
