HARRISBURG, Pa. (June 24, 2011) – Independent agents and their clients will enjoy increased flexibility thanks to passage of HB 440. Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania's priority workers' compensation legislation will extend coverage to members of an LLC and partners of a partnership.

The state House approved the bill in a June 24 concurrence vote, which sends it to Gov. Tom Corbett's desk. Following his signature, the law will take effect in 90 days.

"Passage of this legislation is a significant victory for member agents and their clients," said Tim Burris, chairman of IA&B of Pennsylvania. "LLCs and partnerships are growing business models, and before this, they were exempted from compulsory coverage in the Workers' Compensation Act."
