HARRISBURG, Pa. (June 30, 2011) – Independent agents and their clients will enjoy increased flexibility thanks to a new Pennsylvania law. Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania’s priority workers’ compensation legislation will extend coverage to members of an LLC and partners of a partnership.

Gov. Tom Corbett signed the legislation on June 30, making the effective date Aug. 29.

“Passage of this legislation is a significant victory for member agents and their clients,” said Tim Burris, chairman of IA&B of Pennsylvania. “LLCs and partnerships are growing business models, and before this, they were exempted from compulsory coverage in the Workers’ Compensation Act.”
