Regional junior golf tournament dates announced
Insurance Agents & Brokers to host state qualifiers
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Registration is now open for area junior golfers to participate in the Pennsylvania regional qualifying tournaments for the 40th annual Trusted Choice® Big “I” Junior Classic.
Statewide trade association Insurance Agents & Brokers (IA&B) will host the four regional tournaments in June. Top finishers will advance to the state tournament, which will be held at the Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, Pa. on July 22. From there, the top four boys and first-place girl will advance to the national tournament at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C., on August 3-7.
The Trusted Choice® Big “I” Junior Classic draws 4,000 participants annually. Past competitors include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Charlie Howell, Grace Park and Cristie Kerr.
The tournaments are open to any youth golfer whose 19th birthday does not fall on or before August 7. Registration for a regional tournament is $50.
The 18-hole qualifiers in Pennsylvania are:
Central – Tuesday, June 17
Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, Harrisburg, Pa.
Eastern – Wednesday, June 18
Allentown Municipal Golf Course, Allentown, Pa.
Southwestern – Tuesday, June 24
Diamond Run Golf Club, Sewickley, Pa.
Northwestern – Wednesday, June 25
Country Club of Meadville, Meadville, Pa.
The registration deadline for the central and eastern tournaments is Tuesday, June 10. For the southwestern and northwestern tournaments, it is Tuesday, June 17.
